I've been an avid yoga practitioner since 2004. In the beginning, I did yoga to increase my flexibility and improve my balance for snowboarding. After some time, I realized there were many other physical, mental, and emotional benefits. My stress levels were reduced, and my self esteem and body image improved. I decided to become a teacher because I want to help others realize the benefits that yoga may offer in their own lives.
In June 2008, I graduated from a 200 hour Anusara-inspired vinyasa teacher training course in Norwalk, Connecticut. In addition, I completed 22 hours of therapy training and continue to do seminars to further my education when my schedule permits. As part of my pre-medical studies, I have taken an intensive anatomy course and lab, which has enhanced my understanding of body mechanics. I am currently teaching in West Oakland at Kinetic Arts Center. You can view more details here about these classes. I am also available for private instruction.
Why private instruction?
First Time Yogi: If the thought of taking your first yoga class in a room full of pros is a little intimidating, I can teach you some basics so you know what to expect when you go to a class.
Injured Yogi: If you have an injury that necessitates thoughtful pose choices and a slow pace, we will work together to develop a session that makes you feel good physically and mentally.
Group Functions: It's a unique and fun way to have a shower, party, or team building activity.
